It was with the French invasions that Bucelas wine gained international fame. Wellington offered it to the future King George III, who considered it the best remedy to cure a certain ailment.

The Queens’ House managed lands like Alenquer with rigor and vision, guaranteeing the queens financial autonomy. This fact shows how the queens of Portugal played an important role in the history of wines in the Lisbon region.

To finance the building for the “town council and court records” of Reguengos, a tax of 60 réis was created in 1838 for each almude (16.8 liters) of wine, showing how wine culture is intertwined with the history of Reguengos.

Rubigo was created to reveal the best of Portuguese regions and grape varieties.
